Fred J. Hoffman

Died: Wednesday, July 30, 2008
Fred J. Hoffman, Floyds Knobs, 91, died Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at his home.

Born Sept. 28, 1916, in Milltown, he was the son of the late Peter D. and Mary J. Simon Hoffman.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, was retired from Ford Motor Co. in Louisville, and was a member of VFW Hobart Beach Post 1693 in New Albany and Saint Mary’s of the Knobs Catholic Church.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Violet B. Totten; a daughter, Doris H. Rakes; two brothers, John and Raymond Hoffman; and six sisters, Agnes Byrum, Ruth Atkins, Catherine Colin, Lorene Roberts and Mary and Sophia Walsh.

Survivors include a son, Peter J. Hoffman of Floyds Knobs; a brother, Edward H. Hoffman of New Albany; three grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral: Saturday, Aug. 2, at Saint Bernard Catholic Church in Frenchtown with burial in Old Saint Joseph Cemetery in Milltown.

Officiant: Father John Fink.

Pallbearers: Edward L. and Fred J. Hoffman II, Eddie and Tommy Sharp, Aaron McKinney and Adam Elkin.

Arrangements: Swarens Funeral Home in Ramsey.
