Elmer K. Carrington

Died: Sunday, September 07, 2008
Elmer K. Carrington, 86, Palmyra, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008, at Wedgewood Healthcare Center in Clarksville.

Born Feb. 1, 1922, in Springfield, Mass., he was the son of the late Ernest and Goldie Chapman Carrington.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II, a retired sheet metal worker and plumber, and a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union and Highland Baptist Church near Georgetown.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Marguerite S. Dyer; a son, Barry Carrington; a stepson, David W. Welch; a brother, Robert Carrington; and two sisters, Lois White and Emily Felder.

Survivors include his wife, the former Mary L. Welch; four daughters, Cynthia Thibault of Morris Plains, N.J., Deborah Carrington of Springfield, Mass., Martha Schmitt of Sumner, Wash., and Julie Risinger of New Albany; a stepson, Eddie Bottoms of New Albany; two stepdaughters, Debbie Whittman of Palmyra and Debbie Bottoms of Depauw; three brothers, Ernest Carrington of Brandon, Fla., Cliff Carrington of Massachusetts and William Carrington of Belchertown, Mass.; a sister, Florence Pomeroy of East Lawn Meadow, Mass.; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and seven step-grandchildren.

Visitation: Tuesday, Sept. 9, from 2 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, Sept. 10, after 9 a.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.

Funeral: Wednesday, Sept. 10, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home followed by burial in Oak Grove Cemetery west of Corydon.
