Gerald F. Nordhoff Sr.

Died: Saturday, October 18, 2008
Gerald F. Nordhoff Sr., 71, Palmyra, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.

Born Jan. 13, 1936, he was the son of the late Albert C. and Philomena Gadlage Nordhoff.

He worked for the old Wennings Packing Co. and Gettelfinger Popcorn, was retired from Wolf’s Processing Plant, was co-owner of Nordhoff’s Tavern in Bradford, served in the Army, was a Kentucky Colonel, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Cardinal Ritter 1221 and St. Michael's Catholic Church in Bradford.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rita C. Long, and a brother, Albert J. Nordhoff.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, the former Harriet Mills; a daughter, Harriet Wiles of Tell City; two sons, Jerry Nordhoff of Crestwood, Ky., and Albert W. Nordhoff of New Salisbury; a sister, Mary Ann Savage; five brothers, Dennis Nordhoff of Franklin, Tenn., Edward H. Nordhoff of New Salisbury, Paul A. Nordhoff of Palmyra, Ralph B. Nordhoff of Georgetown and Charles F. Nordhoff of New Albany; and four grandchildren.

Funeral Mass: Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 11 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery.

Arrangements: Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Georgetown.

The family suggests memorial gifts to the St. Michael's New Parish Center Fund.
