Nadine Strain

Died: Monday, January 26, 2009
Nadine Walters Manship Strain, 81, English, died Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, at 5:21 p.m. at her home.

Born May 10, 1927, in Hazard, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Arthur Walters and Pauline Marion Walters.

She was retired from the old Charlestown Bag plant and was a member of Rock Springs Community Church in Hardinsburg.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Strain, on Nov. 16, 2002; a daughter, Carol Sue Manship; a sister, Estelle Crecelius; and her stepmother, Pearl Swarens.

Survivors include two daughters, Ann Newkirk and Jane Shelton, both of English; a son, Dr. Mark Manship of Salem; two stepsons, Jim and Dennis Strain, both of North Carolina; a stepdaughter, Tammy Strain of North Carolina; three sisters, Norma Stroud of Marengo, Callie Zimmerman and Delores Davis, both of Corydon; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral: Thursday, Jan. 29, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home followed by burial in Marengo Cemetery.

Officiants: Brothers Mark Manship and Harvey McAdams.
