Rose M. Leake

Died: Saturday, March 28, 2009
Rose Mary Atkins Leake, 70, New Salisbury, died Saturday, March 28, 2009, at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon.

Born Jan. 22, 1939, in Depauw, she was the daughter of Frances L. Atkins of Depauw and the late Samuel J. Atkins Sr.

She was retired from Federal Reserve Bank in Louisville and was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Frenchtown.

Besides her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lyonell R. Leake.

Survivors include a son, Lonnie R. Leake of New Salisbury; four daughters, Jackie K. Smith of Jeffersonville, Julie A. Episcopo of Corydon, Jennifer L. Burns of Crandall and Janel R. Leake of Richland; a brother, Samuel Joe Atkins Jr. of Depauw; a sister, Shirley Ann Kannapel of Depauw; and eight grandchildren.

Visitation: Monday, March 30, from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 31, from 1 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, April 1, after 8 a.m. at Swarens Funeral Home in Ramsey.

Funeral: Wednesday, April 1, at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery.

Officiant: Father Dan Atkins.

Organist: Michelle Whittaker.

Pallbearers: Travis Smith, Brent and Brandon Keith, Todd Hudson, Tyler Episcopo and Brian, David and Gary Atkins.
