Lois I. Cook

Died: Sunday, April 26, 2009
Lois I. Cook, 84, Jasper, formerly of Birdseye and Huntingburg, died Sunday, April 26, 2009, at 8:23 a.m. at The Waters of Jasper Nursing Center in Jasper.

Born March 24, 1925, in Bristow, Okla., she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Etta Rogers Poston.

She was a retired telephone company operator and certified nurse’s assistant, a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Huntingburg and a volunteer at the former St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Pervil K. Cook, on Feb. 7, 1999; a sister, Mildred Stovall; and three brothers, Dick, Roy (Bud) and John Poston.

Survivors include two daughters, Judy Zehr of Birdseye and Betty Dunbar of Plainfield; a brother, Carl (Doc) Poston of Bristow; four sisters, Ruby Allen of Garland, Texas, Norma Canfield of Canadian, Okla., Barbara Hairell of Monroe, Ga., and Betty Humphries of Dallas; two grandsons; and a great-grandson.

Visitation: Tuesday, April 28, from 3 to 9 p.m. at Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg.

Funeral: Wednesday, April 29, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home followed by burial in Birdseye Cemetery.

Officiant: The Rev. William Covey.
