Edgar C. Mulzer

Died: Saturday, January 23, 2010
Edgar C. Mulzer, 91, Tell City, died Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, after a lengthy illness.

Born Sept. 2, 1918, in Evanston, he was the son of the late Louise Polster and Herman Mulzer.

He was baptized and confirmed at St. Johnís Lutheran Church in New Boston, was a founding member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tell City, where he served in numerous leadership positions, worked in the construction industry building culverts for highways, enlisted in the Air Corps (later became the Air Force), served in World War II as a B-25 crew chief of the 57th Bomb Wing, formed with his brothers Mulzer Brothers and opened the first of several limestone quarries along with sand and gravel and concrete operations and later moved into banking, becoming president and chairman of the board of the Dale State Bank, which later became Lincolnland Bancorp before it was sold to National City Bank in Evansville in 1994. He serving on the boards at Huntingburg Bank, Thermwood Corp. and Spencer Plastics Corp.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Roland, Arnold and Irma Hirsch; a grandchild, Hayley Erwin

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, the former Roberta Kramer; three daughters, Rebecca Mulzer of Boston, Mass., Angela Erwin of Atlanta, Ga., and Jean Ryan of Naples, Fla.; three sisters Mary Dixon, Jeanette Stofft and Irene Cole, all of Tell City; two grandchildren; a step-granddaughter; and three step-great-grandchildren.

Visitation: Tuesday, Jan. 26, from 2 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, Jan. 27, from 9 to 10 a.m. at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home in Tell City.

Funeral: Wednesday, Jan. 27, at 10:30 a.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church followed by burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Tell City.

The family suggests memorial gifts to Emmanuel Lutheran Church or Perry County Memorial Hospital, both in Tell City, or the Tell City Visiting Nurses Association.
