U. Lamar Floyd

Died: Saturday, June 19, 2010
U. Lamar (Marty) Floyd, 92, Clarksville, died Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at Clark Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center in Clarksville.

Born June 23, 1917, in Battletown, Ky., he was the son of the late John and Lilly Fenix Floyd.

He was retired from Bill’s Auto Parts in Corydon, was a retired heavy equipment operator, a member of the Christian faith, the Disabled American Veterans and the VFW and American Legion in New Albany and a medic in the Army during the World War II era.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Emmit and Baxter Floyd, and two sisters, Mazie Humphrey and Sally B. East.

Survivors include two sons, David Lamar and Paul D. Floyd, both of Clarksville; two daughters, F. Katherine Crawford of Floyds Knobs and Delores M. Carpenter of Clarksville; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation: Thursday, June 17, from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, June 18, from noon to 8 p.m. and Saturday, June 19, after 9 a.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.

Funeral: Saturday, June 19, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Leavenworth.

The family suggests memorial gifts to the American Cancer Society.
