Fred L. Burnett

Died: Thursday, October 28, 2010
Fred L. Burnett, 86, New Salisbury, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, at Norton Hospital in Louisville.

Born March 18, 1924, in Ramsey, he was the son of the late Curtis and Cora Montgomery Burnett.

He was former owner-operator of the New Salisbury and Georgetown Gulf stations, a school bus driver for North Harrison Community School Corp. for 36 years, a World War II Marine Corps veteran and a member of Corydon VFW Post 2950 and attended Calvary Baptist Church in New Salisbury.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ila Fern Burnett; a son, Victor Burnett; a grandson, Mark S. Burnett; and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Fred Lee Burnett of Corydon and Raymond Burnett of Georgetown; three daughters, Cindy Walker of Anaheim, Calif., Gloria Razor of Georgetown and Cora Brown of Corydon; three brothers, Don Burnett of New Salisbury, Dale Burnett of Monticello and Paul Burnett of Las Vegas; two sisters, Betty Hearson of Tennessee and Wilma Simons of Kokomo; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation: Saturday, Oct. 30, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 31, after 9 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Milltown.

Funeral: Sunday, Oct. 31, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with interment in Bethlehem Cemetery near Crandall.

Officiant: Brother Mike Mahone.
