Alfred Forbes

Alfred Forbes, 62, Owensboro, Ky., died Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at 12:45 a.m. at Wellington Parc in Owensboro.

Born Oct. 7, 1949, in Crawford County, he was the son of the late Joseph Forbes and Geneva Kindrick.

He was retired from the maintenance department of the U.S. Postal Service, was a longtime farmer, a member of the Christian faith, a Navy veteran and a lifetime member of the Scottish Society of Louisville, having served as vice president, and the Irish Society of Louisville, having served as president.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Dennis Forbes, and a sister, Hazel Terneus.

Survivors include his children, Chadd Forbes of Owensboro and Tracey Baumgardner of Orleans; four brothers, Clayton Forbes of St. Croix, Jim Forbes of North Vernon, Bob Forbes of Eckerty and Dave Forbes of Terre Haute; and three sisters, Mary Alice Brown and Juanita Cox, both of English, and Wanda Melton of Seymour.

Visitation: Friday, June 15, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, June 16, after 9 a.m. at Dillman-Green Funeral Home in Marengo.

Funeral: Saturday, June 16, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with burial in El Bethel Cemetery.

Officiant: Brother Lester Kauffman.
