Preston A. Wininger

Preston A. Wininger, 74, French Lick, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, at Indiana University Health Paoli Hospital.

Born Dec. 14, 1937, in French Lick, he was the son of the late Hollis Wininger and Grace Gottfried Wininger.

He graduated from Birdseye High School, served in the Army and was a member of the Newton Stewart Lodge No. 432 F&AM and the American Legion Post 76 in French Lick.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Laverne Wininger; three sisters, Viola Grooms, Patsy Nelson and Helen Davis; and a grandson, Jacob Rogers.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, the former Madelean (Mabel) Locklear; two sons, Gary and Jesse Wininger, both of French Lick; two daughters, Loretta Busick and Diane Fleetwood, both of French Lick; two brothers, Jerry Wininger of French Lick and Benny Wininger of Paoli; three sisters, Alta Lockhart, Beulah Jones and Lillian Wininger, all of Paoli; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation: Wednesday, Sept. 19, from 4 to 8 p.m., with a Masonic service at 7, and Thursday, Sept. 20, after 9 a.m. at Brosmer-Kemple Funeral Home in French Lick.

Funeral: Thursday, Sept. 20, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with burial, and military graveside rites by the French Lick American Legion Post No. 76, in Mount Lebanon Cemetery in French Lick.

Officiant: Pastor John Moffatt.

The family suggests memorial gifts to the Newton Stewart Lodge No. 432 F&AM.
