Versel D. Wright

Versel D. Wright, 86, English, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at Paoli Health and Living.

Born Aug. 3, 1926, in Sulphur, he was the son of the late Samuel D. and Grace Shrout Wright.

He was a Korean War Air Force veteran, a former sheriff of Crawford County, elected in 1954 as the youngest sheriff at the age of 28, was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel in 1979 and was a member of English Wesleyan Church and the VFW Everett Mason Post No. 6160.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred L. Hawkins.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, the former Mary Alice Dillman, and a brother, Rollin A. (Doc) Wright of Mariposa, Calif.

Visitation: Monday, Sept. 17, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, Sept. 18, after 10 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Milltown.

Funeral: Tuesday, Sept. 18, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with interment in El Bethel Cemetery near Milltown.

Officiants: The Revs. Monty Mahoney and Gary Wilson.

    Just wanted to say I am sorry for your loss. Versel was always nice to be around and nice to visit with. Trust we can meet him in heaven maybe sooner than we realize.
    Would love to see you sometime and talk about old times. I have many wonderful memories of English. Maybe we can see you sometime.
