Amos E. King

Amos E. King, 96, Birdseye, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at 12:25 a.m. at Scenic Hills Nursing Home.

Born Feb. 12, 1916, in Crawford County, he was the son of the late Thomas King and Eva Polen.

He was retired from the railroad and construction and was an Army veteran of World War II.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former June Bufford, on April 11, 2003; a son, Edward King; and three sisters, May King, Mildred Hardin and Hazel Cox.

Survivors include two children, Donnie King of English and Betty Eckert of Birdseye; a sister, Lucille Perry of Florida; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral: Wednesday, Dec. 12, at 1 p.m. at Denbo Funeral Home in English with burial in Birdseye Cemetery.

Officiants: Pastors Gary Wilson and Ed Conway.
