Darrell R. Byerly

Darrell Robert Byerly, 90, Marengo, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.

Born March 10, 1922, in Milltown, he was the son of the late William W. and Eva Byerly Byerly.

He was a former die setter for General Electric Co., an Army Air Force veteran who served in World War II and a member of Marengo Christian Church, Marengo American Legion No. 84 and Milltown Masonic Lodge No. 661.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Deani Elrod Byerly and Pearl Deckard Byerly; two children, Vivian and William Byerly; and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include three sons, Darrell O. Byerly of Greenville, Robert M. Byerly of Marengo and Glenn Hughes of Palm City, Fla.; five daughters, Iris J. Poe of Marengo, Linda Lou Howell of Greenwood, Bobbie Hollen of Indianapolis, Donna Gorton of Burke, Va., and Kay Centofonti of Round Rock, Texas; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation: Saturday, Dec. 15, from 4 to 8 p.m., with Masonic rites by 7 by Milltown F&AM No. 661, and Sunday, Dec. 16, after noon at Brown Funeral Home in Milltown.

Funeral: Sunday, Dec. 16, at 2 p.m. at Marengo Christian Church with interment in Milltown Cemetery with military rites by Marengo American Legion No. 84.

Officiants: Brothers Ben Underhill and Bruce Hawkins.
