Irvin L. Benham

Irvin Lee Benham, 86, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Westview Nursing and Rehab Center in Bedford.

Born Feb. 21, 1926, at Marengo, he was the son of the late Edward Arlin and Fannie Frances Stephenson Benham.

He worked for Olinger Construction Co. for several years, at the family sawmill for many years and attended Tunnel Hill Free Methodist Church at English and later English Church of God.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sandy Moore Pearson.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, the former Mary Jean Batman; six children, Vicki Terrell of Marengo, Philip Benham of Paoli, Doug Benham of Kokomo, Trish Moore of Paoli, Greg Benham of Bloomington and Jeff Benham of Greer, S.C.; a brother, Curtis Benham of English; 23 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral: Tuesday, Jan. 8, at McAdams Mortuary in Paoli with burial in Union Chapel Cemetery at Milltown.

Officiant: Pastor Joyce Beasley.

Pallbearers: Craig Moore, Bobby M. Gleitz, Josh Benham, Blake Benham, Zach Moore, Aaron Benham, Brandon Benham and Guy Hester.

    My deepest sympathy goes out to Mary Jean and family. I grew up near Mary and Irwin Lee. I remember Irwin Lee singing to me when I was a little girl and they lived on the other side of my Grandma Lane. If I had known I would have came to the funeral.
