William K. Rothrock

William Kermit Rothrock, 93, Central Barren, died Wednesday, July 10, 2013.

Born March 1, 1920, at White Cloud, he was the son of the late William Albert and Lena Belle Pitman Rothrock.

He was a former professional baseball player for nine seasons with the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Cubs, New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox organizations; a peace-time Army veteran; a former supervisor of the Indiana Dept. of Transportation; proprietor of the old Rothrock Insurance Agency in Corydon; a former Harrison County License Branch manager; a former Harrison County and District Republican chairman; the former owner of Country Lanes Bowling Alley in Palmyra and Corydon; a former supervisor at I.C.I. at Charlestown; and a 50-year member of Pisgah Masonic Lodge No 32 F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis and Central Barren United Methodist Church.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Albert Ruskin Rothrock.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, the former Virginia M. Ferber; two sons, William Scott Rothrock of Ramsey and Paul Douglas Rothrock of New Salisbury; a brother, Richard Wayne Rothrock of Corydon; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation: Thursday, July 11, from 2 to 8 p.m. and Friday, July 12, after 9 a.m. at Swarens Funeral Home in Ramsey.

Funeral: Friday, July 12, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in Blue River Community Cemetery near Corydon.

The family suggests memorial gifts to Hospice or Central Barren United Methodist Church.
