Charles W. Bell

Charles Walter Bell, 70, English, died Sunday evening, Aug. 18, 2013, at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon.

Born May 24, 1943, in Indianapolis, he was the son of the late Claude Emil and Bertha Ann Evans Bell.

He served three years in the Army, worked more than 30 years as an over-the-road truck driver before becoming disabled and was a member of Flaming Garden Christian Church of Indianapolis.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin sister, Charlene Bell Baker; three sisters, Dodie Bevis, Nellie Parson and Bertha Bell; and four brothers, Carl Walden, Lyle Fox, Raymond Bell and Claude Bell Jr.

Survivors include his wife, the former Elizabeth (Liz) Whiteside; two daughters, Deneen Bell Benham of Greer, S.C., and Charlene Bell Nadorff of Georgetown; a son, Charles Bell of Surprise, Ariz.; two sisters, Claudia Scott of Ellettsville and Alma McCaffrey of Brooklyn, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation: Thursday, Aug. 22, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Denbo Funeral Home in English.

Funeral: Thursday, Aug. 22, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in Mather’s Chapel Cemetery at English.

Officiant: Jason Byerly.

The family suggests memorial gifts to the American Cancer Society.
