Justin R. Rennie

Justin R. (Butch) Rennie, 66, Gatchel, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at Perry County Memorial Hospital.

Born Aug. 16, 1947, in Leopold, he was the son of the late Justus S. and Aileen Etienne Rennie

He was a 1966 graduate of Perry Central High School, a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, National Cur & Feist Association and Warrick County Horse & Mule Club and president of Southern Indiana Squirrel Hunters Association. He worked with Perry County Civil Defense, was a reserve deputy, a volunteer firefighter, past fire chief of Central Perry Volunteer Fire Dept. and retired in 2007 as a jailer for the Perry County Sheriff’s Dept., where he had been jail commander. He also had aworked at the Perry County Highway Dept. and was a licensed auctioneer, where he was active with Perry County 4-H Livestock Auctions and Perry Central Boy Scouts. Formerly, he had owned Gatchel Market and was a farmer.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, the former Betty Sue Sutcliffe; three daughters, Beth McClane of Huntingburg, Nancy Rennie of Tell City and Donna Rennie of Bristow; a son, Charles Rennie of Tell City; three sisters, Kathryn Fisher of Jefferson City, Mo., Mary Sparrow of Charlestown and Rita Mahoney of Tell City; a brother, Jim Rennie of Tell City; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and a step-great-granddaughter.

Visitation: Monday, Sept. 9, from 2 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, Sept. 10, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Huber Funeral Home’s Tell City Chapel.

Mass of Christian burial: Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery.

Officiant: The Rev. Brian Esarey.

The family suggests memorial gifts to St. Augustine Catholic Church or the American Heart Association.
