• With the pandemic that’s occurring, it makes common sense to think that opening schools as normal is out of the question. People are trying to pretend they don’t have a problem. This could be, and probably will be, one of the hardest-hitting things that’s ever happened to the United States. We’ve got to take it seriously. Once it’s gone away and things are back to normal, which they will be, three, four, five years from now, we can then get frivolous.
• I’d like to make a comment about the (COVID-19) pandemic that’s going around. This is nature’s way of thinning the herd. It boils down to the smart people live, the dumb people die, and that’s exactly what’s going on. …
• This is for whoever is mowing the Mount Sterling cemetery. I don’t know who taught you to mow, but you’re supposed to go down the fence line and make the square like the cemetery is, not go in and out and in and out. And the weed-eating, it is horrible out there. Poison ivy going all the way up the tops of the monuments, even the tall ones. You need to do a whole lot better job, and I’d appreciate it. I’d help you, but I live in Indianapolis and there’s no way I can get down here every week and help you, but somebody needs to help you.
• I was just reading the latest Clarion (News) about the students and Nikki Bigham’s kindergarten class at West Crawford Elementary School. I thought it was really something that Steve and Jackie Hiltgartner made partitions for the children so they could be seated away from each other, and they did this at their own expense. And, I’m going to send the paper to my niece in Alabama who would probably be very thrilled to see something like this.
