Perry Central Junior-Senior High School graduate Tricia Esarey gained experience as an intern with State Rep. Stephen Bartels, R-Eckerty, and his fellow members of the Indiana House of Representatives during the 2021 legislative session.

Esarey, a Perry County resident, is the daughter of Matt Esarey and Nova James. She attends Ball State University, majoring in public relations.

“The experience I have gained while interning at the Statehouse has given me the knowledge and skills I need to be successful going forward with my career,” Esarey said. “Working directly with Rep. Bartels, other legislators and staff has been one of my favorite parts of the internship because it has allowed me to build my professional network and connections.”

As an intern in the House Majority Communications Office, Esarey helped write press releases, create legislative handouts, update web pages and produce podcasts.

“The interns with the House of Representatives work hard throughout session on many tasks,” Bartels said. “Tricia is gaining valuable experience with communications and media each day, and I look forward to seeing the impact she has on Perry County in the future.”

Each year, the House of Representatives offers paid internship opportunities to college students, law school students, graduate students and recent college graduates for the duration of each legislative session.
