Search continues for missing Milltown man
The Crawford County Sheriff’s Department is continuing to lead a multi-agency search for missing person Ronnie Stroud, said Sheriff Jeff Howell.
The 66-year-old man was last seen on July 4 and was reported missing on July 11.
Stroud weighs approximately 120 pounds, is 5 feet, 11 inches and has gray hair and a beard.
Stroud is a private person who is often seen wearing camo pants and Nike monarch tennis shoes, Howell said, and he mainly travels by foot or bike. He is an outdoorsman who enjoys hunting, fishing and hiking and often visits Wyandotte Lake, the Shoe Tree near Milltown and other outdoor areas.
Stroud’s son went to his dad’s property July 10 to check on him due to not hearing from him, according to Howell.
The sheriff’s department was dispatched to the area to speak with the family. Officers began searching the area that night until storms moved in, causing the search effort to be postponed to the next morning.
On July 11, tracking dogs from Evansville and the Kentucky Search Dog Association were used in the morning and drones were flown over the open fields and surrounding areas.
A foot search was conducted in the area that included members from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department, Milltown Police Department, Indiana conservation officers and the Milltown, Marengo, English and Leavenworth volunteer fire departments. In all, approximately 80 personnel participated in the search.
Since the initial search effort began, daily and nightly checks have been done on the property, Howell said.
On July 15, a cadaver dog search was conducted by the Kentucky Search Dog Association on the property and a pond in the area was searched by Indiana conservation officers.
As of Friday, Stroud had not been located and the search is continuing.
Anyone with information about Stroud or his whereabouts is asked to call the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department at 812-338-2802.
